On June 23, Equality NoVA proudly partnered with the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs to sponsor another unforgettable afternoon of Drag Bingo at the Walter Reed Community Center, hosted by the fabulous Deedee Amor. Now celebrating its fourth consecutive year, this high-energy community event has become one of Equality NoVA's most anticipated annual traditions, continuing to attract enthusiastic participants and growing in popularity with each passing year.
What began as a fun afternoon of bingo has evolved into something much more meaningful. Drag Bingo brings together seniors, LGBTQ+ community members, allies, families, and neighbors in an atmosphere filled with laughter, entertainment, and genuine human connection. Open to everyone, the event reflects Arlington's commitment to fostering welcoming community spaces where people of all backgrounds can come together, make new friends, and celebrate one another.
Throughout the afternoon, Deedee Amor kept the audience entertained with her signature charisma, humor, music, and engaging personality. Her lively hosting style transformed each round of bingo into an interactive experience, filling the room with smiles, applause, and plenty of friendly competition. Whether attendees were longtime participants or attending for the very first time, everyone shared in an afternoon centered on fun, inclusion, and community spirit.
The event is sponsored by the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs in partnership with Equality NoVA, two organizations committed to creating opportunities that strengthen community connections and improve quality of life for Arlington residents. Together, they have helped establish Drag Bingo as an annual tradition that continues to welcome new participants while maintaining the warm, inclusive atmosphere that has made it so successful over the past four years.
For Equality NoVA, supporting Drag Bingo is about much more than an afternoon of games. It reflects the organization's broader mission of creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people of every generation feel welcomed, respected, and celebrated. While Pride Month often highlights large festivals and public celebrations, community events like Drag Bingo demonstrate that inclusion is equally about building relationships, fostering belonging, and ensuring that everyone has opportunities to gather in affirming spaces.
One of the reasons the event continues to thrive is the incredible collaboration between Arlington's community organizations and local government. Arlington County generously furnished the bingo prizes, adding to the excitement throughout the afternoon as participants eagerly competed for each round. The Walter Reed Community Center once again provided a welcoming venue that has become synonymous with this annual tradition, creating the perfect setting for an afternoon of laughter and celebration.
Equality NoVA extends its heartfelt appreciation to Arlington County for its generous support and for providing the prizes that help make the event so memorable. We also thank the Walter Reed Community Center for opening its doors and continuing to serve as a welcoming gathering place for our community. Our sincere gratitude goes to the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs for its continued partnership and dedication to providing engaging, inclusive programming for Arlington's senior community. Finally, we offer our deepest thanks to Deedee Amor, whose incredible energy, humor, and talent once again made the afternoon an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.
As attendance continues to grow each year, Drag Bingo stands as a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when community organizations, local government, volunteers, and residents come together with a shared commitment to inclusion, friendship, and joy. Equality NoVA is honored to continue supporting this cherished tradition and looks forward to welcoming even more community members to next year's celebration.
