Equality NoVa is proud to celebrate Pride Month 2026 and honor the vibrant, diverse, and resilient LGBTQ+ community that strengthens Northern Virginia every day.

Each June, Pride Month serves as both a celebration and a reminder. It celebrates the countless contributions LGBTQ+ people make to our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, faith communities, and families. It also reminds us of the courage and determination of those who fought for the rights and freedoms many enjoy today. Pride Month is observed in June in recognition of the Stonewall Uprising of 1969, a pivotal moment that helped spark the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.

At Equality NoVa, we believe Pride is about more than parades and celebrations. Pride is about community. It is about creating spaces where people can be their authentic selves, find support, build lasting friendships, and know they belong. Throughout the year, our organization works to connect LGBTQ+ individuals and allies through educational programs, community events, cultural initiatives, and opportunities for civic engagement.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the remarkable diversity of our community. LGBTQ+ people come from every race, ethnicity, faith, age, ability, and background. Our differences make us stronger, and our shared commitment to equality unites us. We recognize the contributions of LGBTQ+ educators, healthcare professionals, public servants, veterans, business owners, artists, advocates, parents, and young people who help make Northern Virginia a more welcoming and inclusive place for all.

Pride is also a time to reflect on the progress that has been achieved and the work that remains ahead. The history of Pride began as a movement for dignity, visibility, and equal treatment under the law. That spirit continues today as communities across the country work to ensure that every person can live openly, safely, and authentically.

Most importantly, Pride is a celebration of joy. It is a celebration of chosen family, friendship, love, self-expression, and the freedom to live as who we are. It is a celebration of a community that has faced challenges with resilience and has continued to build a brighter future through compassion, advocacy, and hope.

Throughout Pride Month 2026, Equality NoVa proudly stands with LGBTQ+ individuals and allies across Northern Virginia and beyond. We invite everyone to celebrate with us, learn from one another, support one another, and continue building a community where every person is valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

Happy Pride Month from Equality NoVa. Together, we celebrate our history, embrace our present, and look forward to a future where equality and belonging are realities for all.
